I’ve never mentioned my hobbies in this newsletter, other than running around Los Angeles and finding the best things to share with you, but I am in love with architecture and interior design. I actually spent a few months training under Gulla Jonsdottir to simply be around the world of design. I’m not an architect, although if I ever did go back for another degree, it would be for that. And another life, or maybe later in my own, I will pursue this career. But for now, I just spend my time saving pins on Pinterest and gathering inspo for a house that I don’t have. I sift through many home stores in Los Angeles for unique pieces that are inspired by those pinned photos. If you’re in the market for unique finds for your home, here are 2 places that you absolutely must be going to:
The Mart Collective – Venice
Mostly decor.
Set aside a few hours for this place. The Mart Collective is made up of individual vendor spaces, each with their own design sensibilities and favorite eras. I stop in a few times a year and always leave with something special. Prices are fair, and you can often negotiate. I love sourcing unique artwork, glassware (think vases and bowls), and vintage kitchen pieces.
Sunbeam Vintage – Highland ParkMostly furniture.I was just feeding the meter when a couch on the sidewalk caught my eye — and pulled me straight into Sunbeam Vintage. I fell in love instantly. Their wall of chairs is stunning, and their selection of couches and coffee tables is even better. Prices are surprisingly reasonable. While furniture is their main focus, they also carry a curated mix of decor and art
