Before you say “those aren’t even comparable” have you been to Orla yet?
I know that Santa Monica is no Malibu. But the remodel of Loews, which is now the Regent, is stunning. It kind of gives off Soho vibes with the full ocean view, interior design aesthetic, free Wi-Fi, and they even have a spa with full-day pool access…! The atmosphere is actually tranquil. It’s the perfect spot to wfh. You get indoor-outdoor seating with a full, unobstructed view of the ocean. No boardwalk chaos. No tourists (except for maybe some that are checked into the hotel).
Also, the food is surprisingly good. I never expect much from a hotel restaurant, but they’ve got a $39 prix-fixe lunch that, with the ocean view, seemed worth it to me!
