Reminiscing on the days that I would date (I'm not married, I've just given up).
This is one of the funny date stories that my Friends love to laugh about.
I went on a date with a great guy, honestly. It wasn't until the bill came that I realized that we weren't compatible.
I'm a big eater, as I'm sure you know. I'm Italian. And I'm not shy to eat on my dates. My plate was basically empty when the waiter came over and asked, "do you want the bill?". It was in that moment that he proceeded to ask, "Yeah, and can we wrap this?".
...?
And it wasn't just his food, which is okay, but kind of a first-date faux pas. But it was mine too! He didn't offer to give it to me; he just took both the plates home for tomorrow's lunch. (Btw, no hate on taking food home - I fully support leftovers - but don’t you think you should offer the other person their meal first?)
By the 2nd date, we ordered quite a lot, so when he took it all home again, I thought, whatever, that's fine.
But by the 3rd, and the last, we had hardly enough food left to take home. I thought to myself, after 2 glasses of Sancerre, there's no way. But sure enough, I heard, "Can we wrap it up?". Yes, my scraps too.
I was embarrassed to be honest, especially from the hand motion that came with the request.
But it had me thinking... where are the few restaurants in LA that the food is so good that I would "wrap it up".
- Spina: Really good Italian.
- Antico Nuovo: Again, really good Italian (and expensive, so don't let it go to waste).
- Cento Pasta Bar: We got a theme going on here.
- Cobi's: Every bite is packed with flavor.
- Dunsmoor: If you can get in.
- Quarter Sheets: Everyone loves a cold pizza slice, hungover.
